With Anton Yelchin already set to star as the title character Odd Thomas, casting has been focused on finding the female lead. Emma Roberts, Kat Dennings, Lily Collins, Portia Doubleday, and Addison Timlin are among the top candidates to portray Stormy Llewellyn, Thomas' girlfriend.
The story centers on Anton Yelchin's Thomas, a short-order cook who has the strange ability to see the dead. Although he cannot communicate with the dead, he tries to help them with their problems. Things take a bizarre turn, though, when Thomas meets a shady stranger who has ties to evil supernatural forces.
Stephen Sommers will direct from his own script, which is adapted from the Dean R. Koontz novel of the same name. That book is just the first in a series of four novels, which also include Brother Odd, Forever Odd, and Odd Hours.
Production will begin on May 2, with filming to take place in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Odd Thomas comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Anton Yelchin. The film is directed by Stephen Sommers.
