Animal Kingdom star Ben Mendelsohn has landed a role in the upcoming indie drama The Place Beyond the Pines.
Ben Mendelsohn will play Robin Van Der Zee, a shady mechanic who brings Ryan Gosling's character into his bank robbing operation. The story centers on Ryan Gosling's character, who ends up turning to bank robberies to make more money after discovering he has a son. Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, and Greta Gerwig also star in The Place Beyond the Pines.
Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine) will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ben Coccio. Production will start on July 25 in Schenectady, New York.
Ben Mendelsohn will next be seen in The Killer Elite, due in theaters September 23, and the Andrew Dominik drama Cogan's Trade.
The Place Beyond the Pines comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Greta Gerwig, Ben Mendelsohn. The film is directed by Derek Cianfrance.
