Latest News: The Hunger Games Gets T-Bone Burnett Produced Companion Soundtrack

T-Bone Burnett to produce companion album for The Hunger Games

Yesterday, Taylor Swift announced that she would be contributing the song Safe and Sound to The Hunger Games soundtrack, which she recorded with rising indie band The Civil Wars. Today, more contributors were announced.

The legendary T-Bone Burnett (Crazy Heart; O Brother, Where Art Thou?) will collaborate with Win Butler and Régine Chassagne of Arcade Fire for Horn of Plenty. The Decemberists are contributing a track titled One Engine.

Each song on this companion album to the feature film The Hunger Games will be inspired by themes that figure prominently in both the movie and the book. T-Bone Burnett is producing the entire album, with more contributors to be announced shortly. James Newton Howard will score the film.

The score and the soundtrack/companion album will be released separately shortly before The Hunger Games is released in theaters.

The Hunger Games comes to theaters March 23rd, 2012 and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Isabelle Fuhrman, Amandla Stenberg. The film is directed by Gary Ross.
