20th Century Fox gives Gone Girl a fall 2014 release date

With production currently under way, 20th Century Fox has handed out an October 3, 2014 release date for the upcoming thriller Gone Girl, starring Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck. Director David Fincher's adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel, which follows a husband who becomes the prime suspect in the disappearance of his wife, will go up against Universal's Dracula Untold next October.

The studio has also moved Frankenstein from an October 17, 2014 release to January 16, 2015, where it will go up against Screen Gems' Beware the Night. James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe star as Victor Von Frankenstein and his assistant Igor, with Jessica Brown Findlay portraying Lorelai. Paul McGuigan directs from a script by Max Landis, which is a revisionist take on Mary Shelley's original novel, addressing themes such as friendship and redemption, with a sci-fi twist.

Finally, 20th Century Fox has moved The Book of Life from its October 3, 2014 release to October 17, 2014. Jorge R. Gutierrez directs this animated romance inspired by Romeo & Juliet, set during a Day of the Dead celebration. It will go up against Universal's James Brown biopic Get on Up, starring Chadwick Boseman.

Gone Girl comes to theaters in 2014 and stars Rosamund Pike, Ben Affleck, Tyler Perry, Neil Patrick Harris, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, Carrie Coon. The film is directed by David Fincher.
