Matt Reeves Will Return to Direct Planet of the Apes 3


Matt Reeves, who directs this summer's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, has signed on to direct and co-write a sequel to the action-thriller, more than seven months before it will be released in theaters.

The director will work on the script with Mark Bomback, who co-wrote Dawn of the Planet of the Apes screenplay with Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Scott Z. Burns. Matt Reeves' directing deal is finalized, while his screenwriter deal is still being negotiated. The project is said to be Matt Reeves' next film, which is considered to be a high priority at the studio.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set 15 years after the events of 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, following a group of survivors of the simian plague who engage in battle against Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his growing army of apes. Jason Clarke, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell and Judy Greer star in the thriller, which hits theaters on July 11.

Aside from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Matt Reeves' directorial credits include Cloverfield and Let Me In.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes comes to theaters July 11th, 2014 and stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Judy Greer, Toby Kebbell, Enrique Murciano. The film is directed by Matt Reeves.
