'The Conjuring 2' Gets October 2015 Release Date

Just hours after handing out release dates for Entourage, Inherent Vice and The Intern, Warner Bros. has issued new dates for The Conjuring 2 (October 23, 2015), Mean Moms (May 8, 2015), How to Be Single (February 12, 2016) and an untitled horror project (October 3, 2014), which may be The Conjuring spin-off Annabelle.

The Conjuring 2 doesn't have any direct competition as of yet, but it debuts just one week after Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak. The Conjuring writers Chad Hayes and Carey Hayes signed on to write the script in July, although it isn't known if James Wan will be back to direct, or if Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will return to star.

Mean Moms, which has Jennifer Aniston in talks to star, has the May 8, 2015 date to itself for now, but it is sandwiched between Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron and Warner Bros.' Mad Max: Fury Road. The story, based on Rosalind Wiseman's book, follows a married mother who moves from a small town to a ritzy suburb, where she is sucked into the world of competitive parenting. Beth McCarthy-Miller is set to direct.

How to Be Single is going up against Lionsgate's Gods of Egypt and Universal's Untitled Pets Project on February 12, 2016. Lily Collins signed on to star last night in this ensemble romantic comedy that follows several New Yorkers and their relationships throughout a number of years. Christian Ditter is directing from a screenplay by Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, based on Liz Tuccillo's book, with Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen producing.

It hasn't been confirmed yet whether or not Warner Bros.' untitled horror project is in fact The Conjuring spin-off Annabelle, which charts the origins of the haunted doll shown in the original thriller. Annabelle Wallis and Ward Horton are set to star.

The Conjuring 2 is in development .
